ABOUT US

Planning is a multidisciplinary field that allows its followers the freedom to research a spectrum of meaningful current issues from public transportation to the implications of rising sea-levels. Future Plans is a medium for researchers to share their knowledge and expertise in the field they are passionate about in order to start important conversations about the environments around us.

OUR VISION

We seek to educate and collaborate with experts that are passionate about the many issues in Planning. We hope to create a community of scholars who care about Vancouver Island as well as innovation in Planning in all regions around the world.

Future Plans is an academic, peer-reviewed, online journal that is published annually. Submissions are due in the Summer, and are reviewed by experts in the field. The final issue is published and available online in the Fall.

WHAT WE DO
OUR COMMUNITY

This journal is an avenue for students, alumni, and faculty of planning programs across Canada to publish their research articles on current and revolving issues in a leading academic planning journal.

In addition to academic articles, we are also accepting other forms of articles that are shorter and less academic in nature. Our Future Plan is to expand our academic journal to include perspectives, culture, exploration,  events, and a technical toolbox to widen our reach and attract a more diverse audience. As the number of submissions increases, we will be able to publish articles more frequently and become a hub for the planning community.

DIFFERENT BY DESIGN

The Master of Community Planning  Program is a new and dynamic professional degree at Vancouver Island University. The program combines research, applied learning, and interactions with the professional planning community to give students the broad array of skills and knowledge that they will need to ensure their success in a Planning career.
